The Vigil
The Black Wolves are a part of a bigger network called The Vigil.
The Vigil was created when seven groups of witch hunters came to understand that alone they could only do so much, so they joined forces, yet keeping their individual identity.
The main goal of forming The Vigil is to create a network of information and mutual help while keeping the individuality of each group.
In time The Vigil absorbed more and more groups while others were freshly created and today there are 17 independent groups that share the same beliefs and goals.
Black Wolves
The Black Wolf Vigil was created as the last resource inside The Vigil. They are formed by the best and most capable hunters from other groups, as well as from people found in their travels that have proven themselves to be true believers to their values.
Inside the group there is no set structure, each and every member has a saying in all matters for they have proven themselves to be worthy of complete trust.
The group seems to be a pure fighting force lacking any type of crafting, so trade agreements are quite common.
Symbols of a Wolf
Even if the inner works of the group are quite secretive and little is known about how they work most of the times they are easily identified [when they desire] not only their ever present black colored clothing as well as two precious items;
The Black Wolf Handbook
All that is public is that these books contain all the information about the Black Wolves and a member is always carrying one in their attire at all times. Obviously something quite precious to them.
The Hat
"The hat is a symbol of a higher purpose. A mark of status as much as of devotion. It gives hope to our subjects and brings fear to the rotten hearts of heathens. Once you put on the hat, it cannot be undone."
Secrecy
Even if some of the members are quite public and easily identifiable in a crowd, it is a known fact that they possess agents working from the shadows, meaning that not all members represent the group publicly since their uncompromising stance is frowned upon and might attract enemies.
This makes it impossible to understand the numbers or depth of the group.
