Re: Does anyone actually feel mages are oppressed?

Having delved deep into the crafting system here, I would say it is far too early to compare what people would consider 'endgame' crafting (i.e. the last gear set a character will ever need) as I haven't seen that many artifact-level augments used in game if any. I can say, that yes, enchanting doe...

Re: Does anyone actually feel mages are oppressed?

Revenant, I think the way to make people the happiest is to just accept that it’s going to be players siding with mages against all comers and instead of taking the nerf bat to mages look at ways to make non-magic options more competitive. Augments vs enchantments is a pretty clear win for enchantme...

Re: A Slight Tweak to the Generated Loot System

A lot of game design decisions (spells, abilities, etc) are all weighed and look at through the settings world lore and metaphysics. Regardless, the loot tables are, as they are, as it is intended. Taking a moment to lol at “metaphysics” as a factor in balancing, balancing based on world lore isn’t...

Re: Does anyone actually feel mages are oppressed?

Controll, I appreciate you engaging in a helpful, honest, and open-minded discussion with me. It’s been informative. I don’t personally want to play a witch hunter at all, but a reasonable understanding of player psychology will make it clear that the lore of “everyone told magic is bad” doesn’t ali...

Re: A Slight Tweak to the Generated Loot System

Prometheus, I’ve seen that post and it is irrelevant to the matter at hand. I’m fully aware that there’s plans for story but that has nothing to do with drop tables being full of mage gear. Asking why the last two updates were full of spell tweaks and buffs was rhetorical. I know mage mechanics are ...

Re: Does anyone actually feel mages are oppressed?

Control, I do understand that it was true on this server historically, and again, with how absolutely essential mages are mechanically the only rational choice for the playerbase not to cripple itself is to side with mages, not against them. I don’t see it as a choice when melee have both poison and...

Does anyone actually feel mages are oppressed?

I’m aware of diabolists in theory being kill on sight, and of anti-mage griefing of new players at the start of the act, but mages are in a very socially desirable position right now. Mages are necessary for difficult pve content particularly with poison and also bring a lot of out of combat utility...

Re: A Slight Tweak to the Generated Loot System

+1 to reducing the drop rates of mage gear because it’s absurd with shields being the most egregious situation. Also, I’m not sure about the relevance of story in the pipeline or enchanting when we’re talking about drop tables. They seem to be independent topics to me. Also, if mechanics aren’t supp...

Re: Shield Wall

I appreciate the clarification, though I still think that finesse is probably more appealing to mages than heavy armor is due to the stat point investment required. So it shouldn’t dramatically change the major analysis. That said, do either of you have feedback on the changes suggested for shield w...
