Application for Etric Hare

Post by Thes » September 6th, 2021, 9:06 pm

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:
Yes, I currently have two other characters.

Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:

I previously played on a UO roleplaying shard named Shadowcove for a few years and have played Requiem for nearly half a year. I have hosted and participated in UO RP scenarios with a small guild.

Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?
I’m very interested in participating in the storyline and setting of Requiem. Hoping to explore more of the shard’s unique systems.

What will your character’s name be?:
Etric Hare

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

Etric is a slender young man standing at 5’10”. He has chestnut colored eyes shining out above a close-kept beard that supports an established mustache. His smile is offered easily. A scar wraps over his left forearm from the interior of his elbow to just barely the outside wrist, nearly buried beneath a canopy of arm hair.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:
Etric had begun to feel restless within his dwellings of Greatport and while some may have advised him to take advantage of the seas for the next leg of his journey, Etric preferred not to be more than a manageable swim’s distance away from solid earth. He heard a trusted acquaintance of his had made their way towards the First Province, which seemed as good a destination as any.

Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret):
Born amongst an insignificant settlement in the region of Heston, Etric grew up parentless allegedly left behind by a group of nomads traversing the region. This nomadic nature flowed through his veins as well, which was satiated by the diversity that populated the bushwood enclosure. For a time at least. His early teenage years were spent testing his luck in the various settlements and departing them upon wearing out his welcome as a soliciting swindler. Eventually, it seemed he had exhausted the hospitality of Heston which led him East to the coast and eventually Greatport. With such a rotating cast, Etric felt he was traveling while staying mostly rooted. It also offered many opportunities to expand his repertoire of ruses and cultivation of charm.

Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:
Etric was in no hurry as he waited in line for his turn to speak to the officiant. His tunic was loose fitting and covered a small satchel he kept tucked just above his waistline as his hands were tucked inside his pockets pushing his pant-legs outward. Peering around the crowd, he could observe that there was a lot of variety in the life lived by each of them. It brought him a familiar comfort, within such a collection of individuals he could easily be obfuscated.

He could not help but laugh to himself as he noticed the burdens some of these individuals encumbered themselves with. There was a short man who carried a pack on his back and chest, Etric passed time by attempting to piece together what contents composed this gentleman’s inventory. By the time the officiant called him forward, he had determined the man likely would have been better off having sold it all.

Approaching the officiant’s booth, his smile already equipped, Etric passed a rolled sheet of paper bound with ribbon to the officiant as he greeted him.

“Good day to you, sir! Could you imagine hauling so much junk along with you?” Etric stated as he quickly pivoted his chest towards the left, the same arm left his pocket and gestured to the short man still in line. His right hand scooped out the contents of its pocket onto the officiant’s stand and laid them down gently while the officiant’s gaze followed his comment. The remnants of all his possessions prior to this journey were now laying on the officiant's stand in coinage form.

Seemingly unimpressed at Etric’s sad attempt at an icebreaker, the officiant directed his attention to the rolled paper, undoing the ribbon and straightening the sheet out to read: “Look down.”

Etric held his breath as he waited to see the officiant's reaction.
