Application for Enrik

Post by Nagato » December 30th, 2022, 12:28 am

What will your character’s name be?: Enrik

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

Enrik is a strapping lad, His face is heavily freckled with watery hazel eyes which always seem to glisten brightly with a shimmer and a fair complexion. He is considered to be very handsome, his physiognomy suggests a mixture of Bhaskarian heritage. He presents himself in an inconspicuous and unobtrusive manner. His expression is almost always a lackadaisical and idle look, which gives off an unconcerned attitude. This can be interpreted as indifference or a relatively passive demeanor as well as carrying himself with an air of aloofness and one can easily sense with continued interactions that there is a general sense of apathy that surrounds him. Even his voice reminds you as if it were a recital, each word being spoken as if practiced repetitively to the highest proficiency, yet seemingly unnatural. He is incredibly socially awkward, being utterly terrible at effectively communicating with people and failing at correctly associating with them in any meaningful way. As a result, he speaks in a very monotonous way and tends to isolate himself. These traits tend to leave an impression on others and why still he possesses such an enigmatic presence, even to those that consider themselves closest to him. With time and effort he is now capable of sustaining some conversations, though in a somewhat dull and monotonous fashion.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Being dispatched to the First Province was a bit more than an "just an inconvenience", it was a complete and abrupt halt to the routine lifestyle already well-suited for Enrik. An exasperated sigh escaped his lips as his gaze went now to the rapidly growing, expanding horizon of what is called the Rumbling Pass. Further in would be the final stop of the "little sojourn" he was on and the beginning of the ever present waiting game of the logistics and clerical work of the Checkpoint, with providing paperwork and forms, identification checks, screening, among all other trivialities that were always present. Still, at least it all distanced him considerably from those who had authorized this endeavour, as well as providing quite the obstacle if they attempted to try and recall him unnecessarily. Hopefully it would remain that way.

Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret):

"The thing about the First Coast is, as soon as you think you've seen it all and ventured as deep as you can go experiencing every profound beauty to be offered, you've only just started your journey..." Those were the last words of a soon to be deceased merchant encountered during one of his treks on the Marching Highway. To those who ventured along the route, such a sight would be commonplace despite the common assumption of near absolute vigilance and safety of the roads. Enrik swiftly learned such assumptions would guarantee a lovely express ticket of a one way trip to Hel. Originating from the Municipality of Primm, located within the shadow of the borders of Kedian. On its surface, it had the general looks and charms as any regular locale within the Province, yet just beneath the surface there spread a sinister corruption underneath. Enrik only survived such harshness due to unforeseeable circumstances that would lead him to remain indentured to a specific branch of an entity with the role of being a tracker of specific individuals for various interested parties, at least that's how it looked on paper. It was a very harrowing line of work, with little room for inadequate trackers and an even thinner line for those unable to learn the trade along with the unwritten rules that come in unsavory dealings.

The many advantages that most other hunters in his new calling possessed such as information of areas of interest from prior contacts, resourcefulness, charisma, Enrik had none of those. What he did have was the sagacious ability to read the emotions of people around him with pinpoint accuracy and utilize that knowledge as a tool, or a weapon if need be. Circles that have dealt with him for an extended period of time he is known to come up with ingenious and imaginative plans to locate, gather, steal, or bribe whatever was required for the completion of his contract.

Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:

As the officiant finished his speech for the umpteenth time without glancing up from the ledger, he called forth the next person to step forth. Presenting the documents to him in somewhat unexpectedly organized and fluid fashion, the officiant peruses the documents, muttering to himself about the influx of bounty hunters being sent. A practiced, hollow smile spread across Enrik's features, toying with the strap of the travel pack over his shoulder he offered this to say, "It's a peculiar thing, how such unsavory characters operate, I've heard of quite a few traveling this same path that led them to this very zone, jumping into complete ambiguity and anonymity. I see why they do it, no moderate sum of simple riches would cover the costs of travel of the people in my profession. Unfortunately for myself and for the individuals I pursue, this isn't by personal choice. It's just business."

EDIT: Before continuing past the checkpoint, Enrik made sure to stop by the officiant one last time with a giant smile plastered on his face. He then proceeded to give the weasely, smelly, foul looking, scrawny, patchy looking officiant the largest wet willy seen on this side of the Province before turning back whistling a jaunty tune.
