I am very pleased to announce that Requiem: Act VI will be opening its doors on 3/3/21. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our community members for sticking with us over the past few months, as player excitement and community interaction is what motivates us to work on this project. I’d also like to thank our very talented and dedicated team for their hard work, dedication and contributions to this project over the past six months of new development.

Prelude Season: Act VI

Requiem will open its doors officially on 3/3/21 into what the staff has come to call our “Prelude” Season. During this time, we will be focusing on ensuring server stability, gameplay quality and working out any bugs (which will be a lot) that we haven’t been able to screen out and fix during our limited in-house testing. Our Prelude portion of Requiem will most likely last for one to three weeks, giving our developers an opportunity to ensure the stability and quality of the shard for a full month before we transition into the development of future game content.

The Prelude Season of Act VI will be full role-playing with full-persistence, IE: everything will count!. Nearly all content will be available at this time, with the exception of a few systems that we will clarify upon later. Our Prelude Season will mainly be a pause before we begin plot and storyline development in earnest within the game world. Again, this is being done to ensure that bugs and issues we haven’t been able to account for in our very limited testing environments are identified, fixed and resolved before we divert our attention elsewhere.

Pre-Release: Weekend of the 26th/27th/28th.

We feel as though it would be prudent to allow our players to get in game a little earlier than the 3rd for purposes of creating and perfecting their player characters prior to official launch. All players will be able to get in-game the weekend before launch to be able to create their characters and, if they so choose, role-play and interact within the Rumbling Pass with each other (our pre-approval lobby area). This will give everyone a chance to get in a little quicker and get the fine-tuning of their characters out of the way before official launch.

Going Forward

Our plans for the future will be shared over the next few weeks. For Act VI, we will be taking a consolidated approach to new content releases. Seasons will be introduced, which are our periods of time when we release new content packages usually centered around new mechanics and new developments in the lore. Our first Season drop will be planned for a month or two post-Prelude Season wrap up, which will include some interesting new things that will be teasing up to that point. In the time between the end of Prelude and the drop of our first real Season, we will be, in order of importance:
  • working hard to get our player Factions up off the ground and established in the game world
  • ensuring that appropriate lore and resources are available to the playerbase on our website and wiki
  • tweaking, augmenting and fixing mechanical issues as they arise
  • ensuring that spawn solutions and PvE elements are working as intended
  • pushing forward the introductory story, plot and lore elements through in-game literature, events and lore postings
  • that will lead up to the first major developments of Act VI and the subsequent drop of Season One
  • working on the assets, wearables, mechanics and environments for the drop of Season One.
A Few Reminders and Closing Remarks

I know that everyone is super excited about the release of Act VI, but for the sake of our staff, please remember that everyone here at 13 Thrones does this as a labor of love. We have devoted countless hours to this project and we are by no means industry professionals; we’re an indie development team of mostly self-taught origins that have bankrolled the development of this project out our own pockets. We have resurrected Requiem out of a desire to provide to the community a quality server in which community members will feel good with investing their time into. We seek to cater to community members both new and old, and to provide everyone a quality experience without attempting to generate a profit or use our powers for our own personal gains.

With all of that said, all we ask in return for providing to you all this community is your patience; there will be issues, delays, bugs and broken things with the shard. We’re a group of adults all with our own professional and personal pursuits, and making a game of this scope and nature takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. Constructive criticism, suggestions and the reporting of these sorts of issues is absolutely vital to ensuring our ability to deliver the community a quality experience worthy of your time investments, and we expect and encourage our community members to do so regularly and in earnest. Loudly proclaiming your negative opinions in Discord or the forums without a sense of decorum, seeking to be a contrarian simply to stir up drama or for laughs, or otherwise being an overwhelmingly negative influence upon the community and project at large is something that we are unable and unwilling to tolerate. The staff here at 13 Thrones is committed to serving the community at large, and we are also committed to providing respectful, mature and professional engagements with all of our community members; we will however exercise our judgement when we feel someone is ruining the enjoyment of the overall community, to include removing people from the Discord room, the forums, and even their characters from the game world if need be.

From all of us here at 13 Thrones, we can’t wait to see what you all come up with in March. Remember, over the coming weeks we will be releasing and providing y'all with all the appropriate information concerning applications, Faction applications, community rewards and other stuff you’re all dying to ask about. If you aren’t a member of our Discord community yet, make sure to join us over there at https://www.discord.gg/13thrones . Thanks everyone!
