Dabbling in the Dark

The figure was not supposed to be there, he had been sure the Fort was quiet. He never practiced while the others were awake, to do so in these times too often resulted in the flame of retribution; both metaphorical and literal.
Decus...why was that man there? And more importantly why had the first been so careless. He looked to the creatures at his side; the skeleton and the corpse lumbering along; the aura radiating.
He had been discovered and so soon.

The armored man seem to make no mind of it; charging past after some zealot and others in the hope of coin or some other trinket. If only he hadn't acknowledge the man with a "hi." That simple acknowledgment meant that he could undo all the work he had started. The other man swallowed and Resolved himself. There could be no witness before the time had come.

He stalked his prey, relying on the man's bravado to charge through when he should not. Then he struck as quickly as he could. The man stood there stunned...and then it was over.

His hand trembled, he recognized this man. He was a good man, but if he let it be known.

He followed up his works by carving the body in a manner captured some time ago in the Fort records.

All Decusians are a taint on the land.

The pagans would bear the brunt of this, hopefully it would throw off the scent.
