A Mourning Period & the Plan for Mutually Assured Destruction

Post by Controll » May 31st, 2021, 12:33 pm

A simple notification has been nailed to the door of Pyreholme's Chapel for anyone to see.
Faithful of the Vigil,

Recently we have received a grim reminder about the Unholy Power represented by the Thirteen Thrones. What began with the Throne of Lust summoned forth the Throne of Wrath, and the Act of Wrath brought forth the Throne of Pride in the form of Highfield's arson. As casualties had still been avoided the Vigil hoped to act as an intermediary between our feuding Faithful Allies, however the Thrones had already gained too much power over their Souls. This led to an armed standoff between our friends, and even if at the very end it was mutually agreed that the feud should be solved in a non-violent way small matters of scheduling summoned the despicable power of what we know to be the Throne of Murder.

Dozens of Faithful were mercilessly slain by other Faithful, among them the leaders of the Renatus & Thrupp Enterprises and the Banners of the Forsaken along with almost their entire garrison. Sister Patricia Woods witnessed the battle and noticed that there was little effort to attempt disarming and capturing the residents of Teneborough; instead the attackers sought to quickly slit the throats of their beaten foes, only proceeding to shamelessly ransack their corpses for valuable possessions afterwards as if driven by the Throne of Covetous itself.

What had been a Call for Justice over an arson with no casualties had then transpired into a Throne-fueled massacre with dozens of slain Faithful. This should remind all Faithful what happens if we lose our connection with the Sacred Flame and give in to the Thirteen Thrones. Members of the Vigil are urged to partake in the Eight Days of Mourning for Absolution to honor our deceased friends and allies. For the coming eight days we shall pray and remember each Virtue within them to ease their passage to the Sacred Flame.

The Vigil will continue to advocate peace between factions of the Faithful. Greater enemies await in the East. Dae-kin, Witches, Apostates, Tormented and all other manifestations of Hel would eagerly see the Faithful tear each other apart. Justice needs to prevail, however we must be cautious not to spiral into an unending Circle of Vengeance among ourselves.

The Promised Day approaches and the power of the Thirteen Thrones grows ever more prominent. Unfortunately we know that more slaughter awaits. Eventually it will be the fate of all True Faithful to become Martyrs of the One True God. In order to protect itself against potential threats the Vigil has initiated the Plan for Mutually Assured Destruction. Siege grenades, equipment and offensive traps have been moved from Pyreholme to hidden weapon caches. The location of these caches is revealed to trusted Vigil members. In the event that Pyreholme is razed by another faction the surviving Faithful will be able to reach these caches to continue the fight and bring forth a Rain of Holy Fire on those responsible through the usage of Speculatores Tactics.

Praised be Lord Decus!
