Application for Arddwyr Derwen

Post by gergecoelho » March 19th, 2022, 9:16 pm

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:
No. (Edit: Double checked and it seems I have applied to an earlier (and somewhat similar) character, but don't think I've ever got to actually playing it :o )

Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:
UO player in RP shards on-and-off since around 2002, D&D player since 1999.

Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?
To have fun while roleplaying and enjoy probably a different/familiar experience from the shards I've previously played.

What will your character’s name be?
Arddwyr Derwen

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:
Tall fellow in his 30s with a scruffy black beard and long hair streaked by just a few silvers. Practical clothes with a touch of noble but old-looking accessories like a well-made scabbard. Some trinkets hanging from his garments look out of place somewhat, namely a rabbit's foot hanging from his neck.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:
Arddwyr believes old tomes held in his family's ancient ruined estates might hold knowledge tied to old fey spirits, which he wants to research and put to use.

Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret):
Arddwyr has heard stories passed down in his decadent family line, tales that tell of his ancestors supposed deals with fey spirits and the powers and fortune that they achieved with them. Though most of the family already casted off these stories as old fairy tale particular to their old folks, Arddwyr keeps them close to heard and uses them as a means to hold on to the hope of overcoming these dark times through them.

Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:
Tall and well-built, but ill-equipped when compared to other adventurers that sought admittance into the First Nation, Arddwyr felt his cause would have little hope in the eyes of the rugged veteran in front of him, the one who would decide whether or not he would be allowed to proceed.
When his time came, he initially told the man tales of the knowledge the old catacombs of his family in Tor supposedly held, and how these ancient words would hold the secrets they needed to overcome the terrors they faced.
Pretty words and ideals, but the veteran in charge seemed unimpressed and was about to dismiss the fellow, Arddwyr looked one way and the other seeking an idea, his eyes catching sight once again of the well-equipped adventurers admitted into the territory, and he stuttered out an exclamation — not an entirely true one — about just how his family's catacombs held not only tomes of knowledge, but also whole armories protected from the touch of time and ready to be shared with those seeking to cleanse the First Nation.
The veteran's eyes narrowed at Arddwyr...
