Application for Gahlamar Moor

Post by Riggz » July 9th, 2022, 10:30 pm

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:

NO

Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:

Rp shards have been my favorite type of UO shard since I began playing in 2000. Most notably I played many years on Mytharia, Journey's End (JE), and Pangea.

Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?

I miss Roleplaying within Ultima Online. My time on roleplaying shards has been some of the most memorable moments in playing Ultima Online. I look forward to playing the character I am presenting to you below, and exploring the world and its lore.

CHARACTER QUESTIONS
(Please note: Staff is looking for at least three lore references in your application when reviewing.)

What will your character’s name be? Gahlamar Moor

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

Gahlamar Moor is 59 years old. He is average height and weight, but you can see his strength in his appearance. He does not look his age due to his hard life fending for himself with his sword and shield. He is muscular and has the dark skin of a man who has lived his life in the sun. His hair and mustache white with age. His face has the wrinkles of past mistakes and long hard life. His scars are his memories of his struggles alone, and doing anything to survive after the Torment took everything from him.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Gahlamar lost everything to the Torment. He has survived a long time alone, only himself, his sword, and his shield. When he learned his son, who was only of the age of six when the Torment Pandemic began, is still alive and looking for him. He drank himself into a stupor, regret for never looking for his son striking him at his core. He awoke the next morning with a plan, a plan of a coward running from his past. He could never face his son, the son he forgot. He figured he would go to the one place he believed his forgotten son would never find him. He had decided to face the rest of his life in the First Province.

Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret:

Gahlamar Moor, born to Ruala Moor and Bareck Moor. He grew up on a farm in The Republic. His parents passed away shortly after his 16th birthday. The farm was left to him, his only way of making a living now.

He spent the next three years using the knowledge given to him by his parents. He grew enough food to live, and even make a small profit. When he was 18, he met her, "Lucilia", walked onto his farm asking for help. She was obviously running from something, but she was the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She would never say what she was running from, and he would never ask. While they never officially married, by the time he was 19 he had a son and he considered Lucilia his wife.

Now that he had a new family he would spend his free time tirelessly training. He tried for years with a sword and a shield. His natural strength from tilling the land, giving him strength to his swing.

When he was 25 the Torment pandemic struck. Lucilia turned, rage in her eyes and lust for blood on her face. His first thought that no matter what he must protect his son. His training and instinct kicked in. Before he knew it Lucilia was dead by his sword, and his son gone. In his terror he locked himself away for days.

When he finally left, he vowed to protect the only family he had left. From now on it was him, his sword, and his shield.

Years later when he learned it was magic that killed his wife, and his son as he believed, he vowed to take his revenge on mages and the evil in the world.

He was on the streets of Tor 1341 hunting down a suspected mage, when the chaos struck. The power vacuum left from the inquisition was enough, but now the Church Military gone. It was lawlessness. He looted and killed, and did what it took to survive. Killing any mage he may find along his way. While he would regret many of the actions had to take, he knows they were always done for just reasons.

Now, in this present year 1347. After learning his son he believed was dead and had forgotten may be alive and looking for him. He looks to start a new life in the First Province, the one place he believes his son will never find him. He does this, as he knows he can never face his son. The son her lost and forgot. He will not, cannot face him. Gahlamar looks forward and vows once more, that he will neve face his son, but he will never give up. He will face the terrors and struggles of this cursed land. He will hunt and kill the evil, and do whatever is required to survive.

Gahlamar now steps into this cursed land, sword and shield in hand. Ready to do what it takes. His regrets, his life, and his forgotten son now behind him in a land where it will never find him.

Please write a few short paragraphs of an in-character response to the following scenario:

Luckily certain deeds throughout Gahlamar's life brought him just enough wealth and a few connections. Gahlamar was able to secure a counterfeit Quarantine Pass. It said it was endorsed by the Prelacy Families. He did not know the name, and nor did he care. All he knew is he was glad he had not drunk away the last of his money that night, and he had just enough left for this counterfeit he held in his hand.

Gahlamar approached the outpost officiant and handed over the Quarantine Pass. He did not know if it would be passable, but he knew that this was the only chance for his son to never find him. At least his son would never find him, even if he were to serve a long jail sentence for having counterfeit Quarantine Pass.

His future now in the hands of the man that stands before him.
