Familiars/Summons Freaking Out on Guard Duty

This issue only started for me today after a few days of fine tuning managing a pack of druid familiars. Initially thought maybe it had something to do with particular spells or reflecting spells, but I've just had it happen without any action/spells on my part.

Specifically, it happened when I looted a pagan circle and a serpent spawned - the familiars clobbered the serpent and then proceeded to brawl with each other, taking my poor goat familiar out of commission!

Telling them to stop will end the brawl, and I can set them back to follow, but the moment I set them back to guard, it's back to brawling. It seems they don't all 'freak out' at the same time, but the freak out itself can cause the others to freak out. As such I can kind of salvage one of the familiars and dismiss the ones that are freaked out.

It seems like 'freaked out' familiars will mill about *very* fast when they are on 'stop' mode - pending more testing to see if this is consistent.
