Sindelar Institute of Anatomical Science's donation for the poor

Post by Nördlich » January 12th, 2019, 1:20 pm

One day during the late afternoon, two men set out from fort Praesidium, a simple mission clear on their minds.

Backpacks filled to the brim weighted heavy on their backs as they made their way towards the northern refugee camp, and soon enough sweat was pouring down their faces. The uneven roads were arduous to travel.

Eventually the duo reached their destination, their elevated spirits intact! But a moment of breath catching later, they took their goods inside.

Doctor Qudus was a familiar sight at the camp, often offering his help in remedying injury and illness alike, but never before had he arrived bearing cargo. With the packs safely inside the camp by the virtue of Conway's raw muscle power, they promptly started unpacking shoes, shirts, pants, gloves and skullcaps into their respective piles. The refugees watched in awe as the piles just kept growing larger and larger! Even a generous passerby felt compelled to join the effort.

With a fraction of the clothes on display, it was time to make it known what was happening; The goods were a gift from the esteemed Sindelar Institute of Anatomical Science! Hundreds of articles of clothing for the ragged survivors, to keep them warm, and to shield them from the elements AND the haphazard environment (The prevalence of toe injuries within the refugees might have influenced the request of having an unusual amount of padding around the tips of the shoes).

Jacques's long hours spent with a needle in his hand were not in vain, as the refugees happily traded their rags for fine clothes of his creation. And even after everyone had seemingly got a new set of garments for themselves, there were plenty left over for those who were not present, or who lacked the courage to initially accept them. These were stored in the various crates around the camp.

The good doctor had not forgotten about his duties. The sick and injured were treated..

..and with good success, as is to be expected.

All in all, the mission was a success: The clothes reached the refugees, and the injured were tended. As Conway and the doctor prepared to leave before the wake of the night, the sight of joyful refugees strengthened their conviction; Even if their act of compassion granted the poor souls only a moment's respite, it was still well worth it.
