Aradia

Post by Luci » February 14th, 2019, 12:14 am

The older women awoke with a start and she glanced around her small wagon. The bed she laid in was crammed in the corner next to a few crates filled with her few wordly possessions. Her bows were most likely her most prized possession- the masterpiece one of course, followed by the others. The moon shone in through the dimly lit door of the wagon as Aradia crawled out of her bed and approached the door to see what had awoken her.

When she reached the door she heard a "Thud!" as if someone was banging on the door. She had reached for the door handle with her key in hand and she quickly drew her hand back. Another loud "thud!" was heard as if someone was jarring themselves into her door. She once again withdrew her hand and attempted to peer out the window. It was dark so she couldn't see much outside. But it seemed like everything was quiet again.

Aradia waited for a few more minutes before securing her crates and slowly unlocking the door. The click of the lock was quiet as it slid to the right, effectively unlocking the door. Aradia slowly pushed the door open and slipped outside, closing the door behind her. A swift "click" was heard as the door was locked and the older lass walked down the road, towards Fort Prasedium.

Fort Prasedium seems a bit eerie looking in the night. All the businesses and homes had lights out but the streets themselves were fairly dark. The guards went about their posts silently, watching her as she passed. Aradia silently made her way to the craft hall and cooked up a few pieces of ribs and venison that the wanderer had left for her. She filled up her water skin at the well and then used her kettle near the fire to boil the water so she was able to drink it safely. Her training as a doctor had taught her that nothing was safe to drink around here anymore. Everything had to be purified or cooked first, and all impurities removed. The younger Aradia would have not been aware of this, but the older one had seen a lot in her time.

Aradia went upstairs and bought a few froes, saws, ad smoothing planes and also a few cooking pots. She returned to the workbench area and made a door and a table before returning to her small house outside of town. She put her things away and rolled out her bedroll near the lanterns and settled down for the night. She fell asleep quickly, enjoying what was left of her slumber for the rest of the night. Tomorrow was a new day, and much was to be done.

Aradia had not been sleeping well lately. Ever since the other night with the return of the Cambion. It appeared strange that the creature appeared soon after they visited the Briars Hollow hospital. And also that the "doctor" did not want them to see his patients. What was he hiding? So many thoughts tumbled through her mind in that regard. But she would have to return to that later. Back to her former thought, of the Cambion.

Aradia remembered Llareth had quite a bit of knowledge on the Cambion. He seemed to know more about it than a average person should. But she also had not seen him in some time, and deep in her gut she knew there was a reason for that. But she had to find out why the Cambion returned, and perhaps in doing so, she would locate Llareth as well.

Aradia returned to the old foundry section of Fort Prasedium and begin to scout the buildings for clues. Anything that Llareth may have left behind that pointed to his whereabouts. The places she really needed to get into- the underground hideout, for example, was locked. But she was able to investigate some of the quarters for clues. She saw books strewn about and more open doors, but nothing of great note. She figured she would have her best luck in the courthouse but that also was locked.

So she returned to Fort Prasedium, and scouted the buildings they used to frequent together. First the one near the gate, where they held their private meetings. Than her old bakery, which also, was locked. The apple tree stood forlornly out in front if it. She knew deep in her mind that Llareth had left her a note somewhere. She just had to find out where.

Aradia returned to her wagon and settled down in her small bed. She pulled the covers up and was soon fast asleep, resting up for the next days adventures. More detective work was required, and she would have to be well rested to do it effectively.
