I love the idea that a great crafter still is only as great as the tools they're given; as I've done arts and crafts myself I can definitely say having world-class tools versus the $5 local set; does make all the difference, this post is an idea to give more power to crafters while giving more research purpose and incentive to late-game crafting/factions.
Example;
FORGES: It begs to reason a well calibrated and engineered forge can do that which simpler and humbler forges simply can not.
Small Forge - Most basic of smelting rates; nerfed to 75% present values for smelted:return ratios.
Large Forge - Upgrade and more flexible forge to the prior one, but large and cumbersome space wise; potentially 115-125% present smelter efficiency.
Efficiency Furnace - Large Forge Value; but small.
Masters' Forge - Large forge, darker hue; 130-145% efficiency value.
Blast Furnace - (large) 200% efficiency of base table; very rare pattern, generally researched; hard to make.
I have to imagine a concept like this could exist for all the crafting tables, and keep the ones ranging from 95-120 skill to craft reliably rare and precious while allowing people independence.
Advanced Crafting Stations
Re: Advanced Crafting Stations
I like where your heads is at here, but am not sure how I feel about adding *more* complexity to crafting and *more* space requirements to do so. I feel like this would just add more complexity without a lot more value. Especially given efficiency gains, I'm guessing everyone would just farm the extra recipe/materials for the "best" one and you generally wouldn't see the less-efficient ones ever used.
