Application for Rhys Mac Ilwraith

Post by Lexi » October 20th, 2022, 7:36 pm

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:
This is my first Act but I have three characters, one I am replacing.
Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:
Been playing UO since 2002-2003 as well as other rpgs.
Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?
Cause it’s fun and my friends are here.
What will your character’s name be?:
Rhys Mac Ilwarith
Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:
Image

Age: 24, Height: 5’6 Weight: 135

Standing at average height, she still manages to strike an imposing figure. Ebon colored hair rests at her shoulders in careless curls. A sprinkling of freckles covers the bridge of her nose and cheeks, just below grey blue eyes. Full pink lips are often quirked in an expression of amusement and a mischievous air follows.
Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:
She knew something she shouldn’t, something that could cost her her life and that was a price she was not willing to pay. Seeing no other alternative, she made a run to the Rumbling Pass, seeking passage into the First Province. Her plan is to lay low while she figures things out and possibly ply her skills in an effort to make a little coin while she is there.
Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret):
She was not born Rhys, in fact, as far as she or the nuns at the Cathedral of Virtues were concerned, she was not born anyone at all. She was left on the steps of the Cathedral at only a few days old, wrapped in ragged blankets without so much as a note to identify her. Given the name Decima, for the day on which she was found, she was raised with the other orphans and offerings of lesser born children of the Prelacy and merchant families seeking favor with the Church.

From the beginning it was obvious she was not cut out for the life of a nun and no matter what punishment was prescribed, all it did was fan the flame of independence brighter. At age 14 she was able to escape the walls of the Cathedral and lose any who might be tracking her in the Sea of Silent Names. Her first taste of freedom was short lived though as she was quickly press ganged onto a ship as a cabin boy, where she took on the name Rhys.

Life on the sea suited her, despite still being at the bottom rung. She took to her chores and learned what she could from the other sailors, mindful to keep her true identity a secret. She worked her way up the ranks as she grew and traded crews from time to time. It was on her last voyage that she got more than she bargained for.
Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:
“By decree of the Venerated Church, the First Province is a mortal health hazard, and as such, is quarantined under Article Eighteen of the Republic Treatise of Health Act of 1320. Citizens who do not possess a Quarantine Visa issued by one of the recognized Factions of the Republic are considered non-essential to the reclamation of the First Province. Under Article Eighteen, non-essentials seeking entry into an official quarantine zone must petition for entry into a said zone, and state just cause for the issuing of a Quarantine Visa by the perimeter authority.”

The officiant snorts in disdain, then adds the last line to the rehearsed monologue:

“State your business and make it quick, citizen; we’ve enough bodies in there to keep us busy for years without adding yours to the pile, and those VIC are stirring up problems, something fierce as of late.”

Rhys looked the man over, noting how world-weary he seemed. No doubt the job had little in the way of interest or reward. She offered him a bright smile, before reaching into her bag for the bottle of good whisky she had been able to pinch as she made her way through the last big town before making the journey to the Pass. She set it on the desk.

“Honestly, I’ve got nowhere else to go and I’ve skills that the Republic could put to use. Better to die tryin’ to do somethin’ than just waiting around, aye? What’s one more body in the scheme of things when it stands between you and the afflicted?”

She continued to smile, hands behind her back as she awaited his answer.
