Application for Sable

Post by Sable » November 21st, 2022, 12:28 am

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:

Yes, I play now

How did you hear about Requiem?

Definitely from somewhere on the internet

What will your character’s name be?

Sable Drayden

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

Late 20’s with long nearly black hair that is well groomed. Standing 5’8 with a lithe thin frame, green eyes with prominent cheekbones and fairly tanned skin, either from outdoor work or family genetics.

Face shows signs of western descent, namely the Kaduraas region. Nose shows a sign of being previously broken if you look closely enough. Lips appear to be a bit chapped, as if dehydrated, while you look at her.

No major scars on her face, her arms show signs of alchemical splash burn, and her right hand specifically has a burn scar that splays outwards across her arm. This scar in particular has oft been described as what looks like an explosion; the skin is slightly raised and discolored.

An observant person would notice her right index finger is calloused.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Sable had bounced around from town to town, trying to get away from would-be kidnappers, loan sharks, debt collectors and crazed loons. She borrowed money, repaid money, sought bounties and eventually just got tired of the cycle of pay and repay.

She decided to rob a train as a final score, but as fate would have it, it was an embarrassing attempt and resulted in a catastrophic failure. Shifting the blame to someone else, she fled to a train tail before the bloodshed started and kept riding east.

Her time spent in the other regions may have helped shave the accent she has away, but the right person could pick up on it. She figures, realistically, that nobody is truly chasing or looking for her, and now that she is estranged from her family, she may as well find a new way. Looking to the First Province as a place for redemption and a chance to disappear.

Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret:

Sable left home later than the rest of her family. She stayed around watching some of the others leave - she had no real prospects for marriage or real work opportunities. She stayed around the house helping with the younger children until she was 16.

Sable has a few neurotic tendencies. She was robbed at gunpoint, twice…maybe three times, various times being pickpocketed as well. These types of incidents from young adulthood put her on edge and cause her to be prone to becoming irritated, almost downright violent if someone is not giving her space. She finds large gatherings resulting in anxiety and keeps people emotionally at arms distance.

Considering her past, she has a very hard time trusting people and prefers a tight-knit group then being a social butterfly.

She has a high attention to detail and focuses on formulas for her craft. She was not good at it at one point and paid the price.

At the Rumbling Pass:

Sable’s train came screeching into Rumbling Pass, and she tried her best to conceal how irritated she had become with her lack of personal space in a cramped train. As the unloading process began, she controlled her thoughts about inflicting pain on those who refused to give her any semblance of personal space. She stepped off the train, only caring about being out of the cramped quarters and did not take a second thought to marvel at how the Foundry could transport so many people.

‘I…will not be doing that again.’ She looked out and saw the Officiant ahead, asking for Visa’s, hearing petitions and issuing passage or outright denying entry. She looked at her current circumstance and figured it was time to ‘work the room.’

‘I can gamble for it or bribe for it.’ Sable was considering this thought, seeing, on one hand, she had the benefit of having a few nice things she could barter with, or if that failed, she could always rob someone. After a few moments of contemplation, she concluded that the Templar watched the inhabitants of the Pass like hawks, and realistically she probably wouldn’t get away with armed robbery. Gambling, maybe? This place is ripe with thieves, pickpockets and the shadiest sorts. She may have fit right in; she could loiter around and make coins. In actuality, she knew lady luck was not on her side... Gambling was too risky, so she decided it was better to sell off what she had.

Sable looked around for someone to purchase her things. She was running low on coins and certainly not enough to bribe the guard. She organized her bag and looked around for someone who had a need. She walked up to passerby after passerby - haggling and bartering her things away to where she had only a few of her things still in her bag.

Sable hated the line, which seemed to remain constant whether it was early morning, day or night. On a cold evening, as people gathered near the fire, she saw her opportunity. She took her chance, shimmied up close and gritted her teeth. ‘Hi fella; you look like you could use a few new and nice things that are circular in shape and have a significant monetary value. How about a little trade - I go through that door, and you raise your financial status?’ She spoke confidently, as she pretended not to notice the smell permeating from the Officiant.
