What will your character’s name be?

Riah Bareda


Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:
Riah possesses an ageless quality found among the border folks but is clearly adult perhaps just entering middle age. She is striking in an exotic way but not exactly beautiful. Her hair and eyes are dark hair. She has caramel skin that is prone to freckling with sun exposure. She is short standing just a shade above 5 feet tall and has the full fleshed curves of a woman who is no longer young.



Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret:

Hailing from the borderlands between Prodai and Aedenshyr, Riah experienced the personal abject poverty of the Western provinces juxtaposed with the displayed wealth and excess of the Eastern baronies. Full of contradictions, she carries a certain resentment as a result of the deprivation she experienced in her youth but has an eye for the finer things because of her early exposure.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Riah is the natural child of a Prodai woman, the result of a forced encounter with a prelate while she was shepherding her livestock. The resulting pregnancy was unwelcome though the child did grow to be loved. Her mother was fierce and independent, her extended family warm and welcoming though she stood apart due to her blended parentage.
Like other parts of the Western province, her small corner of the Prodai border was deeply ravaged by Torment because of the inescapable poverty. When her mother succumbed, her body and possessions burned, Riah turned her eye towards the barony lands and her thoughts to her unnamed father. She had heard that the prelate might be somewhere in the First Province and began her journey, every step fueled by curiosity and hatred.

Please write a few short paragraphs of an in-character response to the following scenario:
“State your business and make it quick, citizen; we’ve enough bodies in there to keep us busy for years without adding yours to the pile, and those VIC are stirring up problems something fierce as of late.”

Scenario Response:
Riah bristles at the guards brusqueness but checks her instinctive heated reaction. “I’m visiting a friend,” she says in a neutral tone. “Planning to stay a good while though.”
Her gaze plays over the well-polished buttons on the guard’s uniform which momentarily command her attention and cause her to miss his response. He snaps at her impatiently as the line behind her grows and the crowd starts to push forward. “Move it along!”
Nods quickly and steps through the now open barricade, breathing a sigh of relief as she makes her way to the third class train car.
