Application for Yupanqui

Post by Yupanqui » August 26th, 2023, 2:20 am

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played?

Little bit

How did you hear about Requiem?

I was invited to Req by an old friend who said it was the place to RP.

CHARACTER QUESTIONS:

What will your character’s name be?

Yupanqui

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

The young man before you seems to be in need of a few sandwiches. He is lithe and shorter than average. His darkened skin and hair hint to his Western Genealogy. He has very little hair at this time. His skin is covered in tattoos depicting Nature and Astrology and the Flame, though he covers this up as much as possible.

Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret:

The Blacklands were no place for anyone anymore. He and a few other weary travelers had to leave behind the lower Forests of Sulastas and traverse the Godspines. There was no exiting through Roenhelm's Gap as it was considered a Quarantine Zone. The party made their way east then along the northern deserts of Prodai until they could slip through Virrenul. They had been camping there for years until the party had been found trespassing on a Parish Estate. Being away from camp at the time proved fortuitous for a couple of them, as they were able to escape the throes of punishment. Having heard rumors of Western migration into the First Province, Yupanqui follows the last remaining members of his camp northeast.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Yupanqui and his companions seek refuge and a place to lay their weary heads. They seem eager to work and aid in any way they can.

Scenario Response:

Yupanqui sits for days at the Rumbling Pass. His eyes dart back and forth upon the faces, wondering when perhaps the party he had gotten separated from might catch up and enter with him. However, the disdain from the faces around him breeds unrest. His patience grows thin until he finally hears a low whisper in a language he can understand. Yupanqui makes his way to the pair and introduces himself in a low tone. It seems they are aspiring adventurers much like himself. But they have procured official documents from somewhere. Yupanqui has no such documents and poor understanding of the Officiant's language. He does, however, have a few small valuables he has picked up along the way.

He stands in the line behind a pale woman of middle age. When it is the woman's turn, she shows just how pretentious she is toward the Officiant. Some sort of prelate or something, to which Yupanqui had no understanding. But she was loud and boisterous. And she really pissed off the Presiding Official. Yupanqui couldn't help but hope not to run into her past the gates.

As Yupanqui steps up to the table, he notes the expression of the Officiant. The man held his thumb and two fingers upon the bridge of his nose before beginning to recite that same dreaded line, "“By decree of the Venerated Church, the First Province is a mortal health hazard, and as such, is quarantined under Article Eighteen of the Republic Treatise of Health Act of 1320. Citizens ...."

The young man held up a single finger, stopping the man's speech. He pulled a dusty old belt pouch around to his side and started rifling through it. The Officiant tilted his head with curiosity as he watched the dark-skinned lad pull out a root of Turmeric and offer it across the table, pointing to his tongue and then to his own head.

The Officiant relaxed a bit and sniffed of the turmeric root before nodding and placing it aside.
"Well Boy. Why do you think we should let you through?"

Yupanqui reached inside his shirt and pulled his necklace to allow the man to view it. A simple string with teeth on it. Two fairly large canine teeth split with smaller pointed teeth filling the spaces beside them. Yupanqui pointed to his own tongue and shook his head. Then he tapped his necklace a few times and extended one arm. He mimed with the other hand to loose an arrow and looked to the man nodding. The Officiant grew restless at the display before Yupanqui smiled and held up his finger once more. He reached inside his belt pouch and produced three small gems of various colors. He mimed swinging a pickaxe and smiled, patting his own chest a few times again and nodding fervently.

The Officiant seemed a bit annoyed and looked to the boy square.
"You don't look much like a miner or a hunter. But if you want to go in there and play with Reed Cats and the Gruut Smashers, I don't guess I care enough to stop you. If the VIC doesn't get to you first..."
