Application: Kassidy Granger

Post by Kole » May 23rd, 2024, 11:52 am

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played: Yes, for a few years.

How did you hear about Requiem? Can’t remember was a long time ago.

CHARACTER QUESTIONS
(Please note: Staff is looking for at least three lore references in your application when reviewing.)

What will your character’s name be? Kassidy Granger

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features: Kassidy is roughly mid thirties but looks a bit older partly due to the hazards of his profession. He would be a moderately tall man if not for the slight hunch in his back which puts him at about 5’10. Fairly skinny, he’s borderline unhealthy in his weight. Kassidy has bald patches in his hair and a beard that can only be described as whiskers. Almost always covered in soot or some odd aroma.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province: Kassidy has been reassigned to the First Province due to what he thinks is a promotion, but in actuality the members of the church at his current assignment hate him and want him gone. Tired of his antics, appearance and smell, they are attempting to send him off to die. Kassidy is excited about the new possibilities the assignment will bring, but is losing his interest in the classical church.

Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret: Kassidy was raised by the church as an orphan, a part of his past he doesn't talk about. He was taught how to make low level potions there but at some point in his mid twenties he was introduced to explosives and has never looked back. The man became quite obsessed with the trade and his health has suffered for it, but he toils on, putting his hobby to use in the name of Decus. Not much else is known about the man as he rambles a lot and his stories are hard to keep up with. He's been sent to the First Province on a fake assignment to seek a church group that doesn't exist as a means of getting him out of the way.

Please write a few short paragraphs of an in-character response to the following scenario:
“State your business and make it quick, citizen; we’ve enough bodies in there to keep us busy for years without adding yours to the pile, and those VIC are stirring up problems something fierce as of late.”
You ponder the situation for a moment, evaluating your options. It is well known that with the right connections and the right amount of coin, one can get their hands on a Quarantine Visa from any one of the major Factions or Prelacy Families of the Republic, or even a passable counterfeit from more nefarious sources. At the same time, it would appear that the officiant doesn’t appear to be above some simple bribery – although his price may be hefty. However, despite it all, you’re sure that some of those let in appeared to have made a convincing case with the officiant without resorting to subterfuge or immorality. Gathering your wits, you step forward towards the officiant, and make your decision as to how to gain access to the First Province.

Kassidy walks up to the officiant with bottles clacking together in his side-bag, to which he pats gingerly with a “Shoosh shoosh.” He offers the man a crooked smile and hands him the papers from the Church Chapter he was previously assigned to. The man is likely to have seen so many of these that he may be able to pick up on the fact the papers are real, but the assignment is a bullshit one meant to get this man out of their hair. Kassidy smiles stupidly at him all the same. “We’re ready to s-s-s-stop the spread of the torment, my good sir.” He pats the bag of bottles that were previously talking too much for Kassidy’s liking.

Kassidy’s white robes are covered in soot, and without the official papers in hand, one might not even recognize this robe as a church robe due how dirty it is, completely with burn marks and holes. As the official looks over the paper one of the men stationed there for safety informs Kassidy that he’ll have to leave the more flammable belongings behind, and suggests also discarding the tattered church robe. With a confused frown, Kassidy does as ordered. After handing over the bag of potions and other ‘torment cleaning supplies’, as Kassidy worded it, he trashes the cloak and looks back to the officiant with the same stupid smile.

Kassidy stares off as he waits, daydreaming about all the explosives he’ll get to use in the first province while spreading the love of Decus. Images of him frolicking through zombie filled fields, flinging conflag potions off to the side as zombie body parts decorate the sky. “Sir.” Kassidy continues dancing gracefully, having no hunched back in his dreamscape, as he passes out bombs with lit fuzes to the unfaithful. “Sir..” Their cries of love for Decus just before the bombs go off. “Sir!” Kassidy blinks back to reality, fixing his stupid grin again and wiping some drool from his lip as he looks back at the officiant, waiting for his answer.
