Character Application: Aster Hargreaves

Post by VeraShelby » March 17th, 2021, 3:23 pm

Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:

Current character, Vera Shelby

Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:
Played RP servers on UO for 20 years

Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?

Love the server and finally have enough legacy points for a second character!

What will your character’s name be?:

Aster Hargreaves

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

Aster is a woman of average height standing around 5’6 with pale, almost translucent skin. Her hair is long with a slight wave to it and is nearly platinum in color. One would guess that she was in her early to mind twenties by looking at her, but the way she holds herself makes you think she may be older. Aster’s eyes are a soft lime green, the only thing that stands out about her against the almost monochrome of her hair and skin. She has a pleasant looking appearance and narrow, sharp features. Aster looks thin, but naturally so and has a healthy appearance of not having to want for much in her life. Across her chest, her upper arms and parts of her exposed back are thin and long healed scars, silver in color and ranging from small to large.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Aster Graves was not born into the prelacy but her parents had done very well for themselves in Heston and moved in and around high class circles; always hoping to break through into the ranks but always kept slightly at arm’s length. When Mr.Hargreaves, a well-known but oddly unmarried and aging bachelor of the prelacy took an interest in their daughter the family rushed the marriage, hoping it would expedite their desperate climb to the top. Aster’s marriage to Howard Hargreaves opened many doors for her family and closed many more for her. After only five years of marriage to her husband, a man nearly 30 years her senior, Mr.Harbreaves tragically passed while in his nightly bath. Aster is looking to enter the First Province for a fresh start away from her family and any potential new suiters.

Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret):

Aster’s marriage to her husband was obviously not a happy one and the majority of the scars on her body are from him and his temper. The servants in the home whispered and gossiped as they often do, wondering if Mr.Hargreaves' young wife had a hand in his passing.

Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:

Aster waited her turn, bundled tightly in her traveling clothes. She hadn’t managed to pull much funds from her late husband’s estate but had enough to have the proper documents drawn up. She waited patiently in line; her eyes cast down and her attitude demure and reserved. When it was her turn Aster presented an overly organized leather-bound folder containing her traveling papers, her official paperwork for the Hargreaves prelacy and pushed into the spine of the folder was a decent pay off of gold coins just in case. Aster wasn’t willing to take chances on her freedom and had tripled down. The man took her papers and began to flip through them, looking Aster over as he read her traveling papers.
“What is a young woman like you doing traveling alone from Heston?” the man said with a smirk as he scanned the traveling papers. He licked a finger, using the moisture to flip the page and pauses at the house crest of Hargreaves. The man’s mouth opened, his brow furrowing in mild confusion but before he could question her further Aster interjected in a soft but convincing voice.
“Sir. . I believe you’ll find everything is in order and to the very letter of the law and your standards. . “ She said and lifted a slender arm over the folder and turned the page of her prelacy papers, exposing the coins. Looking up, she met the man’s gaze for the first time and offered him a small smile.
With a grin on his face, the man tipped the coins swiftly into his hand and returned the papers to Aster. “I hope you have a safe trip Miss.Hargreaves.” Aster continued to smile to him and with out breaking eye contact corrected him; “It’s Mrs.” before nodding politely and moving past.

Congratulations, adventurer! Your application is...

Approved!

Please ensure that your character name is spelled correctly upon exiting the Songmaker's chambers. A GM will approve your character at their earliest convenience.

Welcome to Requiem!

Hargreaves. A name he knew only in passing but knew nonetheless. Prelacy he recalled, pompous and expectant as they were. She has that air about her, the officiant thinks as he looks to you, entitlement. Though he had no love for the Prelacy he knew they were a spiteful bunch. Best let her through with little trouble, yes. He stamps your visa with a smile.
