Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:
I've had some experience with many different UO shards and played Req all acts except act 1
Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:
Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?
Same thing as always, a narrative setting for character creation, interaction and storytelling
What will your character’s name be?:
Rocco "Rok" Armani
Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight, and any notable features: Rocco is an average height man, of around 5 foot 8 yet seems taller from his very broad shoulders and squared face. His complexion is darker than most from his birthplace of Corlais in Aedenshyr though not enough to be mistaken for a collation. Dark brown, nearly black beard is neatly trimmed to surround his chin and connect to a properly trimmed mustache, both peppered with some white specks. Nearing 40 years old, the hair on his head would also have such signs of losing pigment had it not been shaved away daily for the last 20 years. There are some tattoos covering the man that can be seen when he is not wearing armor, one of which is "307th Sons" and has begun to fade from the degradation of time. Hazel eyes greet you, and they are generally warmer than the man's usually sullen and stoic expression.
Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:
Rocco or "Rok" has come to the first Province to meet up with the rest of his unit of the 307th so they may establish a foothold in the region.
Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret): Rok was the second born in his family with 3 other siblings to a merchant family in Corlias. His father, Avel, was a local sailor who turned his knowledge of the seas from helping his fathers fishing business into a much more profitable, though dangerous, profession. Running the treacherous route of the Riding River from Corlias Castle to Prodai. The route was very unpredictable, and none were too brave or foolish to attempt such a feat, leaving his father extremely wealthy for the few years he was able to successfully carry this out. Unfortunately, there was a reason nobody else attempted such a route. 1317 was an especially bad year for the torrential rains and Avel, as well as his crew, cargo, and ships, were lost in the resulting flash floods and storm.
That of course, did not please those who were expecting their orders to be coming on those ships. His family was forced to flee their homes after threats, and acts of violence and retaliation began to increase. Once they relocated to a more suitable area, those remaining had to find new occupations for themselves. Rocco, wanting nothing to do with running any sort of a business, looked to use the strength he had garnered from years of lugging goods to and from the docks like a pack mule to use better than that. So, at the age of 16 he went off with what coin he was given from his father's business to forge his own path. He would join the VIC to become a Templar.
Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:
Rocco patiently waited in line with the other huddled masses waiting for entry into the First Province. The clamor and chatter of people blended together as he watched the men at the gates allow just about anyone through. Very few were turned away, and those that were, would often just get back in line to try again, with a more favorable bribe. It sickened him to see the truth that the world was from what he idolized as a child. He had always thought that joining the ranks of the VIC and serving the Republic for the greater good of mankind would be...better. The reality of what the job actually was, and the horrors of doing such a duty were not what one would expect, and the memories left a bitter taste in his mouth. So much blood, so much death, so much suffering.
“State your business and make it quick, citizen; we’ve enough bodies in there to keep us busy for years without adding yours to the pile, and those VIC are stirring up problems something fierce as of late.”
"Name's Rok," he stated flatly. "I've no intention of being added to your pyre pile and am here to meet my colleagues. All the information you need is here in this service record."
Stepping forward and producing from a pouch linked to his leather belt strapped to the outside of his chainmail his papers with all the information on who he was and his service record. He looked down at the man as he read them over briefly and waited to hear his reply.
