CHARACTER QUESTIONS:

What will your character’s name be?
Henriette Lavoie

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

She's a mid-30s soldier-turned-forest warden and it shows. Her skin is naturally dusky, though a constant tan keeps it moving toward bronze. He hair might well be acron brown, though the years outdoors have bleached much of it toward a pale ash. She sports a few scars on her face, and quite a few more across the rest of her. She's decidedly athletic and likely a fair bit stronger than she presents herself.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Adventure! Sure, she's all for duty and loyalty, and Decus willing she'd help this world... but, really, there's only so much wildness in coastal Aedenshyr.

Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret:

Born the daughter of a Chausser (man-at-arms) and hunter, Henriette was never far from a blade, a bow, or some kind of action. By age fifteen, she had joined the local militia, and by 25 she was joined with a special team of soldiers, patrolling the Parish's outlands. It was there, in the woods, that she really came into herself. While she enjoyed the hierarchy of military life, she didn't much care for the day-to-day rule setting. She had always been a bit too outspoken, so life with a small group, alone in the woods, that was perfect for everyone!

Now, Henriette -- a Chausser in her own right -- has finished her latest posting and is eager for something new. And what's newer than the outpost near Tor? Well, ok, a whole lot of things are newer than Fort Praesidium. But what's happening there is new! And so, having served faithfully for so many years, Henriette requested transfer to the de Ravin holdings in Fort Praesidium. After all, the noble children that went out weren't ALL dead, right? So it can't be that dangerous!

And so, with proper lordly permission, paperwork, and funding, Henriette will set out to Fort Praesidium. May this sacrifice bring victory.

Writing Prompt:

Have you ever seen that person trying to act cool, but really they're just too excited? That's Henriette right now. Her big, bright gold eyes stand out against a tawny-bronze complexion, showing wide with wonder. Her grin -- a smarmy, annoying, prideful sort of grin -- keeps slipping way into joy. Kid-in-a-candy-shop-pretending-be-be-cool would probably be the most apt description of Henriette... if she were a kid and a 30-something-year-old soldier. Ranger, technically. Well, Chausser, technically-technically. But, most technically, she is the ex-Grade Forestier of the Outlands. Anyways, she's much too old and battleworn to be looking so very bubbly. Yet here we are!

Henriette didn't see the group in queue in front of her move on. Henriette was too busy staring at the train. So, it's that big, dumb smile that greets the border control officiants.

"Oh! Ha-ha-... Hi there!" she greets them. Then clears her throat sharply, and puts on a soldier's no-nonsense work face. "Hello. Chassuer Henriette Lavoie, requesting permission for passage under the authority of the honorable House de Ravin." And with that, she hands over her travel visa, with all the necessary markings.

Henriette moves on saying the bare minimum. No, she didn't like that brief display of childish excitement. Someone might have seen. Someone who's also boarding that train. She might just have to pick a fight outside the train, to prove she's not some green treasure hunter. Hmm... who looked like a fun fight...
