From my brother, Sammegarian/Leon Donovan

CHARACTER QUESTIONS:

What will your character’s name be?

Finola Riordan

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:

A native of Heston in her mid-twenties, with a conventionally attractive appearance. She has a slender and graceful figure, standing at an average height. Her brown hair is pulled back into a neat bun. Though neatly arranged, a few loose tendrils gently frame her face. Her fair skin has a natural glow, accentuated by a hint of rosy blush on her cheeks. Her hazel eyes sparkle with intelligence and curiosity.

Please provide a few short paragraphs with pertinent details or notable qualities of your character’s history. This does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret:

Finola Riordan grew up in the farming village of Avalora, located a day's travel south of Coquelicot. As the daughter of a recently widowed seamstress, she assisted her mother with sewing tasks, developing practical skills and attention to detail. Her mother fostered a sense of resilience and resourcefulness within her, teaching her the value of hard work.

During her teenage years, Finola Riordan's life took a turn for the worse after the passing of her mother. Left without a family, and the loss of their family home over a land dispute, she found herself in a state of uncertainty and instability. With limited options and support, Finola was forced to rely on the goodwill of the few family friends she had for temporary shelter, whenever they'd allow.

However, the challenges of survival pushed Finola towards desperate measures. She resorted to what she perceived as "victimless crimes" to sustain herself. This included stealing food from those she believed had an abundance and pilfering coin from the offering box of the local church. These actions provided her with the necessary means to survive, but also exposed her to the risks of her choices.

The village had been her home for many years, relatively peaceful even in light of the state of the world at large, but it had also become a place of hardship and struggle. She knew if she stayed, it wouldn't be long before her luck ran out. Eventually, at the age of 19, she made the decision to move north to the city of Coquelicot, seeking out a fresh start.

What she had saved was enough to initially cover her her stay in the city, until she sought out work. She eventually managed to find a job as a seamstress. However, as the meager pay was hardly enough to cover her room and board, it didn't take Finola long to fall back into the habits she had developed over the past few years.

One day, she had been just a little too confident, too careless, and was caught with her hand in an offering box. Not only that, but she was armed, as a civilian. Sure that the combination of crimes would result in her being strung up, she drew her pistol, fired, and fled as fast as her legs would carry her. She didn't know if the man had lived beyond that point, nor was she even certain she had even hit him, so she just kept on running, desperate to find somewhere she surely could escape from her crimes.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

With the state of the First Province, it seems as good a place as she can find for escaping from both her crimes and her past in general. Perhaps here, she can actually start fresh.

Scenario Response:

Finola quickly checked her coinpurse, then shook her head as she tightened the strings once more, tucked the pouch into a pocket on her bag, and then secured the strap holding the pocket shut. She didn't trust the crowd to not have at least a couple pickpockets. Regardless, she barely had enough to cover a bed and a few meals if she even made it through, and surely it wasn't enough for the officiant, judging by what she had noticed being passed his way. No, simple bribery was off the table.

As the line shuffled forward, her gaze darted around for an alternative route, but quickly moved from one blocked and guarded path to the next. Several minutes of waiting, several ideas thought and swiftly rejected, as she drew ever closer to the officiant. She really hadn't considered this, having been constantly on the move for the past couple weeks.

Another call of 'state your business' quickly snapped her out of her thoughts, before realizing she had made it all the way to the front of the line.

"Maeve Cavanah. Professional seamstress and leatherworker." She quickly stated, her tone far more confident than it should be for someone in her position. She wasn't about to give out her real name at this point. She was sure word of her crimes hadn't traveled so far, but she wasn't about to gamble her life on it.

Out of options at this point, all she could do was to bend the truth, to try to make herself sound as useful as she could. "I would like to petition for a Quarantine Visa. I can make essentials for the reclamation, including clothing, leather armor, and armor paddings for heavier armors. I even have my own tools."
