When my daughter's eyelids closed
I swore to slaughter those who stole my ray of moonlight’ (feat.Cradle of Filth, Nemesis)

Name: Ulfilda Iramsdottir

Region: Arkhess, Northern wilderness

Age: 33

Description: Ulfilda is a tall woman, standing about 6 ft with long, honey blonde hair held back in varied braids and often quite dirty. Along the left side of her head is a large scar, hair braided and pulled back to expose it. Her eyes are a bright green and though captivating-they bear a palpable hunger, for what one can only imagine. Her eyes are often thickly highlighted with kohl straight across her face.

Backstory: Ulfilda hails from the inhospitable frozen wastes in the northern most regions of Arkhess. Her people are a collective of clans, which formed small villages deep within the mountains and forests, known for their raids on the Arkonen people. That was, until they capitulated to the Venerated Inquisition. Once her people were proud, honorable, and strong as cold steel. When their raids came to meet the organized Inquisition forces it was not the same. They were well armed, disciplined, and by Odr they were many. They brought machinations of smoke and black powder. They had soldiers who wore armor that would allow them to ignore the work of the volva, wading through flame and ice. For all of our fervor, it lead to naught but the deafening cacophony of countless souls upon the pyre.
Her people had dwindled, and in short time the songs and stories faded from the southern lands of Arkhess. Many a proud warrior left to sulk in the shadow of the mountains. Some driven to madness in their impotence, hiding themselves away in caves becoming more beast than men. Others were driven to a different madness, killing kin or leaving to trek beyond to seek the pyre in a ‘glorious death.’
In her youth she had met the love of her life, a brazen man of fiery red hair. A warrior and carpenter, he was dedicated and skilled to the prosperity of the village. Together they were fierce. While large scale raiding no longer occurred, they still happened to manage small hits on the edges of the wilderness where hapless caravans or foolish wanderers happened by. For a long time they’d gotten away with their robberies, for it was their way to take from the weak to bring back to the village. Robbery was not considered a crime to the Irminones, if one was too weak to keep their possessions- then they had no business owning them (thievery however was considered cowardly and highly punishable). This was custom of warriors and hunters to take what they could of the outsiders they came across, to bring this wealth back to the village. This had gone on for many years until they had their beautiful daughter together, Tokah.
Finally though she was still young, Ufilda decided she would stay home to keep the stead and raise Tokah. Having seen their share of violence through their years the woman and her husband settled down to a quieter life, he took care of many needs within the village with his craft and she lived an easy life of mundane tasks and rearing of their child. In time their child grew to be a bit of spitfire herself, sporting a red mane like her father. She was gifted with the bow. Before long she was out raiding the edges of the wilderness like they were.
Be careful what you wish for they say.. All the years they’d thought they’d get away with poking a terrible bear. One fateful day Tokah was out hunting game, she spotted what appeared to be a lost traveler. Once she sprung upon the apparently helpless man, more men sprang from concealment and wounded the young girl, she made her way back to the village and the mercenaries followed. Without warning they fell upon the village with fire. The small group cutting down many of the women and workers. Tokah made her way to Ulfilda’s arms, but by then she was so cold. The last moments she had with her daughter were terrible whimpers and rapidly weakening shouts, ‘I just wanted to be like you..” Those were the words every parent wanted to hear, but hearing it like this? It was beyond cruelty. In short work they took the village while many of the men were away hunting and gathering. By the time they had returned, a full unit of the Venerated Inquisition had come to reinforce the initial combatants, holding the remaining women or children hostage they demanded the men disarm. There she was among the hostages, bound and gagged. She helplessly watched the love of her life put down his axe. The sound of their weapons hitting the ground was drowned entirely by the blazing roar of gunfire as a volley took down the entire group of men. Everything went red and blinding, the screech that came from her was like the wailing of the dead things that walk at night. The scream would curdle the blood of even the most hardened men, quickly one of the nearby soldiers brought the butt of his weapon to her head.
When she came to she was awoken by yet more chaos. It seemed some of the neighboring villages had seen the smoke and had sent men to our village- they caught the invaders by surprise and forced a retreat. They’d come too late though, before her was the carnage she would never forget. The entire village was in flames, the corpses of her kin, her daughter, and husband, were all piled irreverently the sickening smell burned her nose and throat. Darkness swallowed her.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:

Ulfilda bares an intense hatred for the Republic. Ulfilda hopes to learn the ways of other cultures, and of the Venerated Inquisition. She seeks to influence members of Decusian faith to apostasy. In the very least she seeks to share the culture of her people with the world. Upon hearing rumors of elden relics and avenues of power, she considered the First Province her best place to find the opportunity to hurt the Republic. She intends to learn their ways of medicine and mundane healing, to offer a an invaluable service, both physically and morally. She could win their hearts with a silver tongue and a healing hand.

The Trainyard: Ulfilda was shocked at the marvels of engineering. She found it very difficult to contain her awe upon the sights and smells of civilisation so far from her people. She slept much of the journey. Read as much as she could the rest of the ride. She was ravenous for new knowledge. By the time they arrived at the Quarantine Zone she didn’t want to stop her read. Reluctantly she joined the throng of people presenting themselves to the Legionaire. Patiently she waited her turn.“State your business and make it quick, citizen; we’ve enough bodies in there to keep us busy for years without adding yours to the pile, and those VIC are stirring up problems something fierce as of late.” Wrinkling her nose at his tone she handed him her papers. “I’m learning medicine sir, here to help the legion.” This seemed to have the desired effect of softening the man if only for a moment as he waved her through.
