Do you have any prior experience with Requiem? If so, please detail when (and what characters, if desired) you previously played:
None

Briefly summarize your prior role-playing experience in a sentence or two:
A little bit of UORP, D&D, WoWrp, and several other RPGs.

Why do you wish to play on Requiem, and what do you expect from the shard?:
Would like to play for fun as previous UORP has been as such. Expecting it to be as great as it looks.

What will your character’s name be?:
Vernon Jayek

Please briefly describe the physical attributes of your character, including age, looks, height, weight and any notable features:
Vernon Jayek is a young man standing at 5’8” with a rugged, exhausted, and even somewhat sickly looking appearance. Though he cares not how many would perceive him, he keeps himself organized and prepared for the day ahead. He is in his early twenties with short well-trimmed hair and an ever so slight Van Dyke stubble growing. Appearing thin and somewhat meek he hides a more powerful physique due to his childhood job. His skin is a pale greige and has minor scars on his back and arms accompanied by light freckles and other blemishes. Weighing in at roughly 138 pounds he commonly dresses in robes or other masquerading clothing. Often carrying the sweet smell of recent death.

Briefly state your character’s intentions or motivations for entering the First Province:
Vernon desires to discover lore and old knowledge hidden in tomes and books within Tor to perform research of the Torment. However, he also wishes to keep a promise to find holy relics in the city before they are destroyed as to keep a promise to someone.

Briefly provide a pertinent detail or notable quality of your character’s history (this does not have to be exhaustive nor revealing of any information you wish to keep secret):
Born in the Midlands in a squalid, dull, detestable hamlet to a widowed mother Vernon faced the Hamlet’s immoral and animalistic society. The only real authority within the Hamlet was the local Abbot who maintained his daily duties in the Abbey, holding service for those with whatever humanity may remain. When his mother fell ill the Abbot, always treating Vernon with kindness and respect, bestowed him a job to assist in funerals and gravedigging to buy medicine for his mother. Things would soon take a dire turn when his mother’s illness only worsened no matter the treatment.

In his early teens his mother had finally given up the ghost and found solace in death. Vernon was not distressed or really affected by the loss of his mother and continued to perform his duty granted to him. After an incident that would change him and the Hamlet forever; the Abbot exiled him not out of intense fear or anger, but perhaps a concoction of both. On the old road to the First Province he found the ticket to his new life, it beckoned to him promising greater things in life. With the Hamlet set upon by antediluvian evils brought forth by a nightmarish accident there was nothing to turn back to. Pondering it for some time he decided it must be done and made way to the Rumbling Pass.

Briefly write an in-character response to the following scenario:
The labyrinthian woods and sprawling wealds he travelled through under the prospect of being safer than risking brigands and highwayman had been a facade. Met with nothing but misfortune his supplies were dwindling, what little food was left in his pack was laughably scarce and riddled with insects and maggots. Weary and weathered by hardship from the travelling he set camp in the woods. In the palpable darkness and chill of night betwixt the witching hours and sunrise his camp was ransacked by a pack of wolves who hastily ate what remained of his food. Vernon was able to sneak away in the shroud of darkness masking his scent with mud by miracle or sheer luck. That morning he came upon the Rumbling Pass looking more dishevelled than he ever had. The line was not particularly long that morning and so he made his way to it with ever more nervousness and routing confidence. The Rumbling Pass was threatening to Vernon, looming over him like a castle with a full garrison watching for the littlest of transgressions.

“Next!,” The guardsman shouted.

With fleeting certainty Vernon staggered to the guard and greeted him with a depraved grin tugging at his mouth.

“H...hello sir,” said Vernon with a tired breath as he handed him his pass.

“I do believe everything is in order there yes-yes. I am here to find holy relics that may be in danger of being destroyed or lost to the Torment.”

The guard eyed him head to toe before taking the crumpled and worn visa. Vernon stood up straight and neatened himself as much as he could, presenting the guard with a genuine smile as the Abbot had once shown to him.

“What a terrible tragedy it would be to let such valuable relics be taken. Returning them to the Church to hopefully gain the favor of Decus mhm-mhm.” The guard clearly disinterested with most of what Vernon said, frightened Vernon, drawing him to reveal an heirloom gemstone that belonged to his mother and handing it to him with a sly handshake.

“May this also covet the favor of a certain guardsman to permit my entry.”

With all options exhausted he awaited his respone from the guard who seemingly had brightened up.

With a trained eye the guard casually took the gemstone and motioned with the head to the guard on the next checkpoint to let him through.
